Thinking Philosophically: Moral Values

WHAT ARE YOUR MORAL VALUES?

• Do we have a moral responsibility towards less fortunate people?1

Not all the time, but for me i don't think we have a moral responsibility to protect people from the consequences of their bad decisions. But if we are true Christians then of course we will always do our best to help less fortunate. 

• Is it wrong to divulge a secret someone has confided you?2

It is morally wrong to divulge a secret someone has told you because you are not giving importance to the one who trusted you and trust is an important gift, it shall not be broken because it will be hard for it to be restored.

•  Should we eat meat? Should we war animal skins?3

Yes, it is the need of our body to eat meat, according to the Food Pyramid it suggest 2 to 3 servings of cooked meat, fish or poultry.Each serving should be 2 to 3 ounces a week. Ethically killing animals is wrong for me, we should not kill animals not only because it is a law or rule, but because animals is also a living thing, they also have life like us. 

• Should we try to keep people alive at all costs, no matter what their physical or mental condition?4

Definitely yes, because it is morally wrong to take somebody's life. Only God our savior can take away life. Life is very important gift  and blessing given by God to us, it is not our right to take other's life, Because each and everyone of us has its purpose on living.

• Is it wrong to kill someone in self-defense?5

No, it is not wrong to kill someone in self defense, because you jstu basically defending yourself and protecting your life. If you didn't kill probable cause would be you will be killed.

• Should people be given equal opportunities, regardless of race, religion, or gender?6

Yes, people should be given equal opportunities regardless of race, religion, and gender. We should learn to treat people equally that is a moral value. God created us all humans , so it must be treated equally and there is no right for a human being to treat other people unequally.

• Is it wrong to ridicule someone even if you believe in its "good fun".? 7

Yes, it is wrong to make fun of someone, you should learn to respect other people so that in return you can get respected too. It is a moral value.

• Should you "bend the rules" to advanced your career?8

No, greediness of oneself will not advanced your profession and it will damaged the reputation of your career. Because you are breaking the law or rules. 

• Is it all right to manipulate people into doing what you want if you believe its for their own good?9

Manipulation is controlling other people's life decision and thinking. Yes it is for their own good but you can still let them do their thing and just guide them at whatever decision they'll make.

• Is there anything wrong with pornography?10

There is nothing wrong with pornography, What's wrong is that with pornography people;s thinking is widen and if you don't look it in a positive way. Evil things will start. It is your responsibility to discipline yourself and control your mind from thinking negatively.

• Should we always try to take other people's needs into consideration when we act or should we first make sure that our own  needs are taken care of?11

We should try to consider other people's needs before us. If their needs are taken good care of our needs will follow. We should give what we can do to help them, but we should also always consider our self and our own needs.

• Should we experiment with animals in order to improve the quality of our lives?12

To save a human life it is right to experiment on animal, because animals are the only alternatives to sustain people life and health.So the medicine is made possible through this. Doctors can experiment on the effects of a drug on a animal.
